Magna-Tiles Review

Monday, December 19th, 2011

Recommended for children 3 and older, Magna-Tiles has turned out to be the surprise best selling toy of the 2011 holiday season. An interactive building toy, Magna-Tiles consists of magnetized tiles that can be put together in many combinations. This toy set is fantastic for small children in that it helps them to develop their logic and problem-solving skills. Math and creativity are also developed. Spatial development is the most exciting skill offered by this toy, as children will learn to create, then break down and re-create objects that are 2d and 3d.

The tiles included come in a plethora of sizes of triangles and squares, to allow for true logical learning and creativity. Each piece is unbreakable, so the set is safe for smaller children.

The set is available in clear or solid colors, to allow for the mixing of the two types to create buildings with clear windows. For smaller children, just one set should be fine. For older children, the addition of different sets would allow for expanded creativity and development.

Our testers noted that the tiles can be used to create building and playhouses for many other types of toys, such as dolls, action figures, even car sets. Some parents were ecstatic that their children were able to learn about geometric patterns and shapes so early in their childhood. From squares and triangles to trapezoids, the toy can be used to introduce children to math and geometry. Cubes, pyramids, buildings, homes, towers, these are just some of the possible items that children can build.

While the toys can be expensive, they are worth the expense, as most parents say Magna-Tiles are the toy that children will play with every day, as the possibilities for building and re-building are endless, as are the educational advantages.

Verdict — This is the toy of the year, a  highly educational toy that kids don’t know or care is educational. A worthwhile investment for any child’s development and future.

KidKraft Majestic Dollhouse Review

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

KidKraft has done it again as the KidKraft Majestic Dollhouse is simply fabulous! This dollhouse is almost five feet tall and comes with finely crafted wooden furniture which comes to be 34 pieces in all. The eight large rooms can be decorated by the kids to make a complete kitchen, bedroom, and patio, and there is even a laundry room! Large windows give the kids different angles to play from and there’s an elevator that goes between the second and third floor. The entire house is built and planned very realistically including a garage with swinging doors.

The dollhouse is really large, which is fantastic because more than one child can play at a time and this simply means no fights and no tears. The large rooms also mean that popular fashion dolls like Barbie can fit in perfectly into this house. Assembling this house was quite easy and an amateur like me took about three hours. Instructions came with pictures as reference and all the parts were labeled. The craftsmanship is very fine with all the grooves and walls slide into place, and the directions given were really simple. The different screws came in separate pouches, and are color coordinated with the wall they are supposed to fit into. The quality and finish of the wood is fabulous, and is a better option than the cheap plastic stuff available nowadays.

One of its parts arrived broken, but that is probably because of shipping. There is a contact number in the manual and also a section on the website where you can write in the parts that arrived damaged and it’s replaced in a few days. KidKraft really does have the best customer service as they are very prompt. This is a dollhouse which I would recommend to everyone as it is packed with fun and will make moms want to be kid again!

Tonka Ricochet RC Vehicle 4 X 4 RC 27MHZ Review

Tuesday, December 7th, 2010

Kids are still very interested in remote control racers, and new ones are becoming available on the market every season. But this season there is definitely one on the market you should consider. The Tonka Ricochet RC Vehicle 4 X 4 RC 27MHZ is a powerful remote controlled racer that would give your children the ability to enjoy features they may not have been able to enjoy in the past. Have a look at what I’m talking about and see for yourself.

The ability to control how the remote controlled racer is driven.

Remote controlled racers in the past could only be utilized one-way; many times they did not come with special features that allowed you to adjust them. But with this particular remote controlled racer it is able to drive low on the ground, and then activate its monster lifts suspension to drive it high in air. This is going to be a really entertaining, and is going to open up all sorts of possibilities.

This particular remote controlled car is very easy to perform stunts with.

The Tonka Ricochet RC Vehicle 4 X 4 RC 27MHZ (RED) has the ability to perform stunts like no other racer out there. You can create all sorts of different obstacles which the car that it will be able to adjust itself to. Seeing as how you are able to use the monster lift suspension to maneuver it high or low it is going to be easy to set up these obstacles. This remote-controlled racer also comes with an easy-to-use controller and charger as well.

Children will not have to worry about minimize their playing time.

Some remote-controlled racers in the past came with very weak batteries that would only allow children to play with them for very short periods of time. With the Tonka Ricochet RC Vehicle 4 X 4 RC 27MHZ (RED) this isn’t going to be an issue. The rechargeable battery will allow for hours of action so that play will not be affected.

In closing I would say that parents who do not like their children playing with these types of racers might have an issue with it. But on the bright side, there is really no negative feature so to speak of with the Tonka Ricochet RC Vehicle 4 X 4 RC 27MHZ (RED). There are no small parts that would pose a hazard to small children, and you can easily monitor them while they play with it. I would say this remote controlled racer is definitely a good option for small boys.

Fisher Price GeoTrax Transportation System Remote Control Timbertown Railway Review

Tuesday, December 7th, 2010

These days there is a lot of competition from many toy manufacturers for the attention of your children. These companies are doing everything they can to steer your children in the direction of wanting to play with their toys. This doesn’t have to be a bad thing, I would just prefer my children to have a toy that is going to encourage to them to be productive, creative, imaginative, and encourage them to be creators. I found with the Fisher Price GeoTrax Transportation System Remote Control Timbertown Railway, they would be able to do all of this and more.

Children would get to be the conductors of their very own train.

Even though you would think trains would not be popular among small children or slightly older children, the popularity is still there. Kids are able to use their imaginations while playing with trains, and I believe this is a big reason for the continuing popularity despite all the other entertainment they can be engaging in. With this particular set, it is completely remote-controlled, and the three-car train features auto aligning wheels that ensure the train stays on the tracks. This was a problem in the past where trains would frequently become derailed because of problems with the tracks. Luckily, these types of problems have now been solved.

So what does all this mean?

It means that children who do not want to worry about the train falling off the tracks will not have to. Your children will be able to enjoy running the train around the railroads through many different bends, looms and slopes. These are usually the individual features that make the train entertaining. But other features would include the ability to use the working crane to load logs onto the train, make quick stops at the easy rail station, along with other benefits designed to engage a small child’s imagination.

All in all the Fisher Price GeoTrax Transportation System Remote Control Timbertown Railway is a great option for parents who want their small children to enjoy the ability to use their imagination. Having this type of toy will also encourage freethinking ability and set characteristics for the future that will encourage productive traits.

Star Wars General Grevious Spinning Electronic Lightsaber Review

Tuesday, December 7th, 2010

Many children and even some adults are still very enamored with Star Wars. Children are still very enamored by it and are constantly on the lookout for toys that will enable them to play out their Star Wars fantasies. The Star Wars General Grevious Spinning Electronic Lightsaber will enable them to do just that. I know a lot of people are concerned that this particular toy may not be good for children, but just think of the other options out there. Let’s run through a few of the strong points of the Star Wars General Grevious Spinning Electronic Lightsaber.

What small children will be able to do while playing

A lot of small children who are into Star Wars are fully aware of who General Grevious is. Many of them will be able to close their eyes and envision themselves battling the Jedi with the lightsaber just as he does. All this is going to be very harmless activity, and will engage your children in innocent playful activity.

Children will be able to come upon their opponents with spinning blades; they will also be able to wield the lightsaber separately for two-handed use. It also has a gyro grip for spinning light saber motion, along with spinning and connections sounds, glowing arc wave energy blades and power activation comic sound.

Children will be able to create different configurations

Upon considering whether this would be something children would be interested in, I had to check and see was it at least to some degree customizable. I found that children would be able to create four different configurations, double bladed spinning light saber, two single light sabers, double bladed light saber or single spinning light saber. This product also includes two light sabers and connection handles.

Suitable for only small children

I feel that the Star Wars General Grevious Spinning Electronic Lightsaber is definitely only suited for smaller children. I feel it would be completely inappropriate for children who are much older to play with it. But I’m sure everyone is going to be of a different opinion. These days’ small children are losing their imagination, and I feel that this particular lightsaber will enable them to engage their imagination in a very safe manner.

If I had to recommend the Star Wars General Grevious Spinning Electronic Lightsaber to another parent I would definitely tell them to go for it. Their children will be able to enjoy being children with this light saber, and they will be able to engage themselves in a way where you won’t have to worry about their safety.

Mattel Mindflex Review

Friday, November 12th, 2010

I am absolutely dreading the upcoming holiday season because I already know what I am in store for. I have a couple of kids who already have a wish list made that is about a mile long. If they believe for a second I’m going to purchase them the same mindless electronics I have in the past they are absolutely mistaken. I have come across a game that I feel will help to expand their mind, while at the same time having fun. I came across the Mattel Mindflex Game, which I had my doubts about, but I was able to look into it in order to see would it be suitable for my children. Here is what I was able to discover.

The Mattel Mindflex Game requires my children to think.

The last thing I needed was another game that would enable my kids to be mindless. I wanted something they could enjoy, but at the same time would be able to use to expand their mind. This particular game enables them to think. This game combines advanced technology with the power of thought. It is able to use a very powerful assortment of physical and mental coordination in order to help the user guide a ball through a customizable obstacle course.

The Mattel Mindflex Game would enhance my children’s minds as well.

Not only would my children be able to use a combination of physical and mental coordination in order to move a ball through a customizable obstacle course, but they would also be able to measure their brainwave activity. This is a good thing, because this way they will be able to see and I will be able to see just how strongly they are able to concentrate. Seeing as how the object of this game is to navigate a ball through a mind challenging obstacle course as fast as possible, this skill will grow over time. And I am almost certain this ability to think and concentrate will spill over into other components of their life.

I honestly feel like any parent who feels their child could use a little bit of mind exercise or any parent who is tired of the same mindless technology that is dumbing down our children should definitely look into the Mattel Mindflex Game. Here is a game that has come along which will enable them to actually use their mind, and grow their ability to concentrate and focus. It is definitely something I won’t mind them spending a lot of time on. My only fear is that the game has the ability to become addictive, but I prefer my children be addicted to a game like this rather than some online game or playing on the cell phone all day.

The Sing-A-Ma-Jigs Review

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

The Sing-A-Ma-Jigs are plush figures available in colors like pink, blue, yellow, red, purple, and other color combination’s like pink and teal. The plush character with the unique look interacts with your child in many ways. The toy has 3 different play modes. It sings and chatters and can even sing harmony with other Sing-A-Ma-Jig plushes. When set in the chatter mode, the plush toy speaks and “chatters”.

The real attraction of this toy is when you put the toy in “harmony” mode and put several of the toys together. They will actually HARMONIZE together! Amazingly, the more of these toys you have together, the more amazing harmonies and songs they will sing.

Each toy has a unique look and personality. If you get this toy for your child, you may want to consider getting several. The Sing-A-Ma-Jigs are great for kids parties and sleepovers, especially with kids each bringing their own different Sing-A-Ma-Jig toy.
